I had an uncle who was a jeweler by profession but he would do the fancy scroll work engraving on pistols and rifles as a hobby and for extra cash. He did a 1911 Colt in 38Super that I ended up with for a number of years. The problem with a gun like this is that it is now a work of art and really should not be shot or even handled as the natural acids in you hands can ruin the finish. Beautiful gun but rendered virtually useless if you want to keep it that way.

That is the same model cannon as the one in your "about me" photo. My hands were always to small to shoot the D. E. .357 .44 and .50 DE. My self, I have always carried the 1911A1 in .45ACP or the Colt SAA in .45colt. I like plain "work-a-day" firearms far more than jewelry 'Cause when the finish gets "rubbed" I don't fell like a broke a Hummel, or went tagging in the Louvre---Ray

Ray,the correct nomenclature for the .50 cal is ' .50 Action Express' or .50 AE, not .50 DE .
Just pickin' .
