Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter, President Obama flailed all around the debate stage last night. He was stuttering, nervous and petulant. It was like he had been called in front of the principal after goofing around for four years and blowing off all his homework. Not since Jimmy Carter faced Ronald Reagan has the U.S. presidency been so embarrassingly represented in public. Actually, that’s an insult to Jimmy Carter. The split screen was most devastating. Mitt Romney spoke forthrightly, with carefully studied facts and details at the ready. He looked right at the president and accused him of being miles out of his depth. Mr. Obama? His eyes were glued to his lectern, looking guilty and angry and impatient with all the vagaries of Democracy. This debate was seriously chaffing him. What exactly was Mr. Obama’s strategy here? Did he figure with so many people unemployed in this abomination of an economy he should go for the sympathy vote? Like voters could relate to a guy who is just scared pantsless that he is about to lose his job? In the middle of the blood-letting segment about jobs, Mr. Romney said good-naturedly: “This is fun.” Almost pleading, Mr. Obama reached out to the moderator for a lifeline: “You may want to move onto another topic.” When an unexpected noise went off behind him, Mr. Obama wheeled around to look as if to ask, “Time to go?” Hopefully. Turns out, it was the first honest thing we have heard from Mr. Obama’s campaign: The president really was absolutely terrible on the debate stage. More...
A little background... As a Canadian, who watches very little news on tv, mostly because I see how much the media twists the facts, and I have better things to do with my time then letting myself be brainwashed with the masses. I am embarrassed to say that I was very clueless about Obama until I've started mingling with this crowd and have seen the cold hard facts. Allot of this stuff is still just sinking in, but I am very relieved to take the blinders off. I do feel lucky, even if his crap still influences my Country that his name will never be on my voting ballot... I do however care for the welfare of my fellow man and I will do what I can to understand and spread the word.... Now for my challenge... my daughter came up to me yesterday and asked me a question that I wasn't sure how to answer. She has been noticing things I read online and the stuff I post and asked "Why do some people hate Obama? What has he done that is so bad?" I mean, I had a millions thoughts come into my brain, but how to answer in a few words in a way that makes sense to someone that knows very little about it. Not to mention that she had noticed Michelle's public speaking "prowess" recently where as far as I'm concerned, the only truth spoken was "being president doesn't change who you are it reveals who you are". So what I ask of you all, and I do hope some lurkers that have never commented before post too... tell me in YOUR words, how you would answer her... or anything you would like to add on the subject. I do really care what you all think, and respecting someone's opinion is important to me. We all come from different walks of life and it's expected that we have different points of view. I like making up my own mind, as you all do, and THAT is definitely one of the things I enjoy the most around here. I hope you feel free to speak your mind, not just in this post, but in anything that I post that possibly appeals to you. :-) Thank you for being part of My World ;-) -MissK
A Little heads up, about the source of my numbers. As my side bar indicates, most of them ARE coming from Wirecutter... But recently I've notice that Irish is picking up speed, and at this rate will possibly become the top referral pusher for MissK, "if" things stay the same, and we all know that they never do. So I am quite curious as to how this will play out..... As a new blogger, it is fascinating to me how these numbers change and get influenced, and the dynamics of it all. I love behind the scenes shit, and honestly I'm not one to just look, meaning, if it's something I can influence somehow, I'll give it my best shot ;-) Whichever way this goes, thank you Gentlemen, I am enjoying the ride ;-) -MissK
Firearm aficionado Andrew Tuohy has filmed himself firing a range of weapons, but never before underwater.
The gun expert has posted a series of images, as well as a video, to his blog Vuurwapen to show the different effect each gun has in his swimming pool.
After being triggered, a tornado forms at the end of the gun for a few short seconds before the bullet sinks down to the bottom and surrounding bubbles float to the surface.
But Mr Tuohy isn't just firing the guns for fun, he collects the bullets to make 'tactical flowers' for his mother.
The resistance of the water causes the bullet to expand in perfect formation, creating beautiful lead blossoms.
'As pretty as this stuff is to look at, it is also painful - I have plenty of scars from being sliced and poked by metal objects, but holding those bullets in my hand almost made me shiver,' he said.
'I would definitely not want to get shot by any of that stuff.'
He experiments with different bullets and guns to create different effects, claiming the results possessed an 'evil beauty.'
He also soldered the 'flowers' onto some 'stems' to complete the effect.
An avid gemstone collector, he then added precious stones to the center of the bullets, rendering them almost unrecognizable. Read more.
Just had to add this pic from his Facebook. His FB link is at the end of the article if anyone is interested in looking him up, along with his blog, that I linked right above the AR video.
His Caption on the pic below : This is my "Listen, don't buy crappy guns" face. And hand gesture.
Love this guy :D
From his blog... "Those who take a myopic view of trigger modifications, for example, often render firearms unreliable (light strikes, failure or inability to reset) or dangerous (disabling or reducing the effectiveness of internal safety mechanisms). This is not to say that all trigger-related modifications are bad - magazine disconnects, for example, are dumb. However, if something sounds too good to be true, such as a 1911-like trigger in a Glock, then it most likely is (I have two requirements for a carry firearm - that it work when I want it to, and that it not randomly shoot my balls off when I'm running, jumping, and climbing trees)."
