The way the top layer is flattened means that it's ether some kind of metal or something microscopic being squashed by the top plate of the microscope slide.
I'd say it's some kind of filter, given the smaller sizes below (behind) the front mesh.
I saw your pic on g00gle images when I was doing the Gunny girl porn for the week (http://atrainwreckinmaxwell.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-girl-and-her-gun-blog-had-good-run.html) I didn't use it because I'm sure your modesty would not want me to put you our there like that............. :-/

My crusty underwear ready for the monthly wash?
Watchband?
~snort~ Mike, that is just Ewwwww!!!
Orbitup, nope.. try again.. ;-)
1. chex cereal under a microscope
2. red thong panties under a microscope
3.diatomaceous earth under a microscope
The repeating pattern underneath excludes most of my guesses! the top layer does look like a watch band, as orbitup says.
illl guess some sort of material - maybe kevlar?
Damn, Mike, get a maid. ;-)

Anon, good guesses... here's a few hints from that ;-)
1. Not Food
2. Again not food.. ;-)
3. what the fuck is that? google time... BRB
"A soft, crumbly, porous sedimentary deposit formed from the fossil remains of diatoms" Very cool, but no. Has never been alive for the third hint.
Timbo, now I'm curious what guesses where "excluded" :D
Not Kevlar, but that's the closest so far...
Try to consider that it's "part" of something very popular :-)
KurtP, go with your first inkling, very good deduction... ;-)

Not a filter, well in the usual sense of the word...
Thanks Kurt, and btw I really like the first pic in your post. I've had that one in my personal folder for a while.. MissK 2.0 ;-)
Lint screen?
Hey Cedar :-)
Sorry, it's not a lint screen.
Some sort of multi layered fabric like Gore Tex...?
A fabric gun belt?
That's a MaxiPad, up close and personal...
We need a hint!
Hmmm... Let's see...
It's not fabric :-)
Nothing to do with guns...
It's part of a device that most of us have...
Can't believe I finally picked a hard one... ;D
Is it one of those metal scrunchie things one would use to wash dishes?
Faucet aerator screen?,
More hints...
You don't want water anywhere near this thing.
The "device" this is part of is very portable.
lol, you said "hard one"
Cell phone speaker screen?
Of course I did Orbitup... ;-)
And we have a WINNER!!!
Yep, cell phone speaker screen :-)
Congrats Orbitup :D
What do I win??
So that's your ear wax in there?
I guess it is Anon.. I'm gonna put it up for bid on eBay if you want a piece of it... :P
What do you win Orbitup?
