I'm pretty sure I got it all figured out,
so there should be no more problems,
I hope. With "this" issue at least ;-)

Google Chrome tends to have the largest memory footprint of the popular browsers, and by the time it got an adblocker I'd already returned to Firefox.(The experience was shocking. I probably cut my bandwidth usage by 60% and my browser's resource usage by an additional 30% just by turning the adblocker on!)
I use Pale Moon, a tweaked browser for Windows built on the Firefox code.
