I've always been surrounded by woods, it's where I'm most comfortable, so like you Jerome, I prefer woods. But on the flipside, to consider this endless mass of water as part of one's backyard is breathtaking. Could be a great place for a getaway. :-)
There is a reason Southern California is popular. Imagine wandering down to the beach early in the morning, at sunrise. Bring your surf rod, and catch your breakfast.
Yeah, a lakeside property with easy access to water and woods would be an ideal location. On the other hand I have absolutely no problem with an ocean getaway
