Top photo is Cypress. Saw a lot of home accent pieces made with it when I lived in Florida ( for decades) Common use for smaller pieces was to rout out a space in the back of the piece to install an electric ( battery or cord powered ) clock movement and, with the face side sanded smooth, and finished to high gloss, have a wall clock. Had seen a couple of large pieces fashioned into tabletops, although they were of irregular shapes .
Wide growth rings. Softwood at a guess. But imposable for me to tell past that--Ray
ReplyDeleteNo idea but it is attractive. Like someone dropped some ecstasy over the root ball and took off without it.
