I took this picture back in June, a few days after starting excavation with my backhoe guy. There were a lot of deer tracks too, but this guy was the biggest critter to visit that night. I set up a trail cam after that, no luck yet. I'll be sure to share when I do get a few good pics out of it.
And yes, that's my big ol' steel toe rubber boot you see there.

Moose, Yes?---Ray
ReplyDeleteYup. I'm guessing that was a male. There were two other sets of medium and small prints a few days after, out of camera site. Had to be mother and calf. Made me feel like Goldilocks... Better Moose then bears though o_O
ReplyDeleteYes, better 'n bears...but maybe not, when he goes into rut. A bull moose in rut can be an extremely aggressive and destructive critter. Used to hear stories about 'em squaring off against the small trains that ran on the light gage rails. Obviously, it didn't go well for the moose, but sometimes the train was derailed by the force of the impact. I would recommend against feeding him. Just because he finds food on your lot, doesn't mean he won't bust up yer still house Just my 2 cents...
ReplyDeleteI see the possibility of a lot of steaks and jerky.
ReplyDeleteMoose meat=good eats!
ReplyDeleteEven though caribou is better.
