Coming Clean....

I have a little confession to make.....

Really, it's no big deal, but in order to share the things I want to, I need to come clean about something....
A little detail I have been avoiding from Day 1, mainly because he has no interest in my blog :-( That's fine, since this is MyWorld. Why I decided to leave him out of it from the start. Him being Mini Me's daddy of course. I'm sure most of you have figured I do have a significant other, as most of you also do.

So here it is, a little background. Been together for 18 years, and as you know, if you've read most of my stuff, our daughter is 16. He was one of my brother's best friends, so we kinda grew up together. I'm not interested in going into much detail, but let's say he's a bit of a workaholic. His opinion about my blog goes something like this "if its not a source of income, it's a waste of time."  Grrrr.... It's called a hobby, damn it!! And he has his own hobbies, so technically he should understand, but he doesn't get it. So if you look back at my postings since last Friday you can tell something is off with my usual patterns, however haphazard they may be.... possibly because... he's been off work since then, till next Tuesday... lovely.... So we're busy busy with housework, yard work and the cars. And that's fine, because these things need to get done, but the way I look at it, there's enough hours in the day to share your time between duty and things that bring you joy.

So I have 2 main reasons for talking about this, one is my occasional lack of posting over weekends, and obviously more so this current week :-(  I know this is no big deal, but I still felt like I needed to explain myself. I want to be here more, and it's frustrating the hell out of me that I can't.

And my other reason for coming clean is to be able to share more about things like those hobbies that he and I share... things I haven't talked about but have mentioned briefly in my profile. Like the WireGirl thing, tuning Japanese Race cars, customizing and all that fun do it yourself shit that I do love to do. I like to take pictures of my work as it progresses, as most of the time, it's things I have never done before. So it's a learning process. Then there's that perfectionist thing, why these little projects end up being my responsibility in our "somewhat shared" drag racing hobby. Like re-wiring a double fuel pump setup, with really fat 4 gauge wire, or cutting out a carbon fiber plate, to fit precisely in a very limited space. The fun stuff for me where things like, designing and making a wickedly custom copper heat shield, or cutting out, and fitting a custom aluminum  plate, to internally extend a twin turbo intake pipe in the hopes of minimizing turbulence and adding a few horses, worked like a charm.

So you see, I couldn't really talk about these things and share pictures without mentioning hubby since I would probably be customizing something entirely different if he didn't have this drag racing hobby. So of course, I will be taking credit for the projects I have done, but I wont pretend to have pulled and dropped 5 or 6 engines in the past few years all by myself. I'm also the on board photographer and videographer for test runs and actual races. All amateur shit of course.  So there's lots of things going on in my life that I was walking circles around... all I'm aiming to do is add a few things here and there that I feel like sharing, I'm still the same MissK, just a little less mysterious, eh ;-)

So back to MyWorld.... which is way more then a hobby for me, a way to connect with like minded people, a voice, self expression, a way for me to learn about things, people, places... I've explained it before, y'all know MyWorld is important to me, and that goes for all of you too, it's a package deal, and I'm really happy with the people that have decided to join me on this crazy ride, and looking forward to all the new folks that will jump on board, whether you like to lurk, or you like to talk it don't matter, it's all good. That YOU are here is what matters to me.... ;-)

All this to say, yes I do have to go against the grain to make this thing happen, but there is way more to come if I have anything to say about it......
-MissK

  12. Turbo's........huh? Japanese cars......what? Why? Look, your man must be young, you see there's these cars in America called muscle cars, naturally aspirated big blocks that need no Turbo, no lap top, just good old fashioned know how. 500 HP with a holley four barrel. You and hubby ever get down around Ohio, let me know, I'll change his mind about what he wants to drag race with one ride in an old Chevy .......;)

  15. Short version:
"I have a confession to make: I'm a real person with a real life and friends and family and a diverse collection of hobbies not all of which involve politics and pictures of pretty girls."

I'm sure we can forgive you for being a human being.

  16. No surprise that you have a life outside of work and we thank you for sharing this pay of your world with us. I do have yup agree with angrymike though. I'm not old enough to have been around them when they were new but I grew up around drag racing gear heads with lots of classic muscle cars and have even owned two myself (both 68 chevelles). Those rice burners can run fast but they sound terrible when compared to the classics that make the ground shake just sitting there and they don't even come close when you compare looks

  18. I never thought about what your personal life was like, I mostly lurk around here for the sarcasm, but I agree with oldAFSarge, "you so obviously have your shit together"

  19. Always nice to know you better. Someone on here mentioned NB the other day. I used to live there. I know it's not wise to identify yourself too much, but I sure would like to see some engine pics from hubbies car. Just took a supercharger off of my foxbody '89 mustang, and changed the intake.Off the road for over a year, and proceeded to blow up the heater core.
