Pretty obscure here in the USA, because it was banned after about two weeks. Hell, after hearing this I didn't even need a girl. May be able to find it on youtube for a listen. It still makes my heart speed up to dangerous levels when I dig it out of my archives.

  19. Yikes, I just found out that MissK is French Canadian. I should have picked "Nothing" by the Ugly Ducklings for my song. Best Kanuck group ever.Or something by Rush or Anne Murray(shivering uncontrollably at that)Oh, well. At least the one I picked was sung in French.............

  24. @taminator013, the Kinks in my opinion are one of the greatest bands of all time. I saw them several times back in the late 70's and 80's. Back then they could fill an arena. And YES, they are greatly under rated. Its because early on in their career when the British invasion was at its height, for some reason they got banned from touring in the United States. I think it was some fucking union spat. I could be wrong.
They were also one of the first if not the first to do the so called rock opera genre, even before the Who made did. But because they were banned, these other bands got all the headlines.
A few years back, Ray Davies, did a solo tour, it was just him and another guitar player. He was the one who started the whole "Story teller" thing on VH1. One of the best live shows I have ever seen in my life.
If you ever get a chance to pick up the story teller cd do it, its out of print but you may get lucky and find it on ebay. I still have my treasured copy.

  25. Cranky, I was buying their singles in my formative years in the '60s. Something about distorted guitars that "Really Got Me". The Kink's early sound ushered in so many of my beloved garage bands. All my contemporaries were into pop music at the time, but they tolerated my stuff. Nothing like that sound. I will definitely look for the OOP cd............keep on rockin' in the (temporarily)free world. If you get a chance, check out the Ugly Duckling's song "Nothin'" on youtube. The original is much better than the remaster. RAW

  26. Green Door by Jim Lowe (the song not the movie). I was 10 I think.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gee, MissK, I guess you didn't like my Nirvana (the man who sold the world) request huh?
Too bad. For some reason his were the songs of my youth. *sniffles* Oh well... ;-(

*holds her face in his hands and kisses on her... in his thoughts*
Ahh, so you left a whole line in green just for me to let me know you DO like Nirvana and that you are busy working and will get to it... heheheh...
You could have just said GFY...
Happy birthday sweetie... You too have a little spot in the corner of my heart, you wild woman... ;-)

  30. LOL Cute WB ;-)

But with all due respect, I have about 12 comments not yet posted in this tread... yes the first green line was "just for you" ...because you where the only one jumping to conclusions... :D

    ReplyDelete
  31. LOL...
    You are adorable... so cute...
I am a man. Of course I jumped to conclusions... it justified all that was not, but I imagined it to be... That's what we do... I think you have a boy. You know...

    lolol...
You posted the above thought, yet still no Nirvana... It is obvious You hate him...

Heck I should pick up my own guitar and sing the song for you.... I don't do heroin, so forgive if it doesn't sound anything like him...
Perhaps you'll put my song there, cause I know you hate Nirvana...

    Guitar solo...
We passed up on the stairs
We spoke of was and when
    although I wasn't there
he said I was his friend
    which came as a surprise

    I spoke into his eyes
I thought you dies alone along along time ago...
    OH no, not me
    whenever never lost control
you're face to face with the man who sold the world...

I laughed and shook his hand, and made my way back home
I searched for a foreign land, for years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare, we walked a million hills
I must have died alone, a long long time ago

    Who knows? Not me
    I never lost control
    You're face to face
With the Man who Sold the World

    Who knows? not me
    We never lost control
    You're face to face
Of the Man who Sold the World

    Oh wait you hate Nirvana...
    lolol

  32. Ha!!! I'm special. I got two songs and everyone else only got one. Oh, wait, cranky got two also. That's okay since we're both charter members of The Village Green Preservation Society. Hey, Kurt also got two!!! Okay, he is a Navy vet. He really deserves his. Thank you Kurt and all the other vets out there. You are the really special ones.......................

Now I'm positive I'm slowly fallen off that list...
She use to save a spot in the corner of her heart for me, now it's obvious that it is erased and wiped clean... *sniffle*
I know... I know... I should have stopped talking while a ahead...

  37. I am currently taking auditions for "Fuck Obama" the musical.

  38. Miss K, I bet its a while before you pull this stunt again. I would wager more work than you bargained for LMAO, But it turned out well, good idea,

    ReplyDelete
  39. "This" stunt? You're probably right Dusty LOL I'm sure I'll pull a "different" stunt next time ;-)

I enjoy doing it like this because it's fun for me to make things personal, and different. Yes it's a lot more work, but that's where the value come in... I love the selections that I got and I leaned a bunch of stuff doing it.. win win <3

  40. And what are you doing at home posting on a Friday night young lady,
all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl! Get a social life and a man. If your not careful you will end up a spinster ;)Thanks for your blog, its a pressure release from the daily grind. When are we going to see a real pic of you

    ReplyDelete
  41. Who says I'm home? ;-) And you've probably noticed I keep my private life private... that's not gonna change, for the most part. This is an Escape and not an Extension, it would pretty much defy the purpose of it if I were to share everything.

I do plan on sharing some things in the near future. A pic might be a possibility, we'll see :-)

    ReplyDelete
  42. MissK, No way...
    A pict, dfy the purpose?!?!?!
What is wrong with you... No...
don't do it.. We like the mystery... We don't need ot know it all, or any...
Don't do it, kind goddess. makes it even more mysterious...
It is so easy to be me...

  43. So your not the redheaded Asian with a gun and hard nipples popping through a white t-shirt that lives in an igloo like your avatar pic..ohh man;)lol. I bet your a whole lot better

    Greenbow

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh, please don't post a real pic,MissK. I was listening to Je' T'aime and imagining you as a ginger Brigit Bardot............geez, I hope that my wife never reads this or I'll be dead meat. Dusty Trail, we gotta keep her really busy so that she doesn't find a man. That way we can keep her all to ourselves. Although she is getting too many male followers. And cranky, the Storyteller cd arrived yesterday. I had it ordered within 5 minutes after I read your post. Used for $12.98 on Amazon. Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but it's Ray Davies, so it gotta be great................

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry Missk, talk to you down the road :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. wb, put down the glass and back away slowly.....

Before you start panicking, you might want to read my last statement again. And maybe this time you can notice the use of elusive, slightly vague terms....

Namely, "plan on sharing; some things; near future; might be; possibility; we'll see"

Like I said, I have no intention of "defying the purpose" of My Escape World. If I do share something, it will add, not take away... So, go sleep off what ails you, and if you stop by again in the morning, I might have something Tropical posted, we'll see ;-)

Greenbow, thank you, that was a much sweeter response. btw, some things are true in your first part, but I will not tell you which ;-)

Taminator, what you do with your imagination is your business... and although you did not panic, thank you, you can also notice my use of vague terms as I suggested to wb. Enjoy your Storyteller CD ;-)

Now look what you started Dusty, tsk tsk ;-)
