Sunny Side Up

My attempt at photographing the Solar Eclipse....

The first picture is actually from inside the house,
shinning through my skylight :-)

Not bad for a Canadian Redneck, eh... ;-)

Amazing Colourised War Images

A few days ago, AngryMike posted a link
to some of these awesome colourised images.
I thought they were fascinating. Here's a few more of them...

"The Unknown Soldier"

"No Fear"
Lieutenant (later Lieutenant Commander) Walter Lewis Chewning of Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, (February 19, 1914 - February 4, 1990) steps on the burning fuel tank of an F6F-3 Hellcat flown by Ensign (later Lieutenant) Byron Milton Johnson of Potter, Nebraska (May 19, 1920 - February 20, 2005) to effect a successful rescue of the pilot on November 10, 1943. Source
You can see the rescue @ 5:35 of THIS Video

Lot's more images below the brake.
Check out the links if you want more info.

I Blinked...

The days seem to be going by so fast lately.
It's a double edged sword...

We had our first winter storm over the weekend.... fall is no more :(  Reminded me that I'm missing a few Canadian basics, some of which got lost in "Transition". Warm gloves and an ice breaker are a definite must. Perhaps a little compensation for going cold turkey on the wood chopping ;-)

Giving Credit Where Credit is Due

Cleaning out my spam folder, I came across
a comment asking for credit to a "picture"

I shall correct my oversight... ;-)

The first picture in a Babes & Guns Post I did a while back
should be credited to Elizabeth Fay Photography

Awesome Shot btw :-)

You've Got Dead Rabbits!

Uh... I mean Mail?

"In 1936, Post Office rules stated that game, including rabbits, could be posted with nothing but a neck label as long as ‘no liquid is likely to exude’."

Is this familiar to any of you??
